Chapter Four

(Doctor Phlox Recovers)

        JD grabbed a tricorder and ran to the table where Dr. Phlox was lying and used the tricorder to read Dr. Phlox’s life signs.

"It looks like there is a Class B Cardassian virus attacking his brain, we need to stop it now!"

"I know the perfect remedy!"

        The cook walked in with a bowl of some fowl smelling concoction that made JD lose his appetite to even look at.

"This is Boltof Binogan.  It will taste nasty but it will stop the virus.  It's garlic soup loaded with herbs.  It works better for this type of virus than any other medicines we've been able to come up with.  He will need to have an entire bowlful twice a day in order for it to help him get rid of the virus."

        He gave the bowl to JD.

"Thank you Mr.?"

"Shwab, Charles Shwab."

"Thank you Mr. Shwab."

        JD started spooning the soup into Dr. Phlox’s mouth.  Everyday for a month, JD went to check on the doctor.  One day JD took the tricorder and checked the life sign.  He was astounded by the doctor’s results.  He called for the crew to come and witness the final part of the medicine.

"Any minute now, he will be awake from the disease."

        Everyone waited.  Then suddenly Dr. Phlox opened his eyes and sat up.

"What happened, Captain?"

"Don’t worry, this young man helped you get better"

"Thank you, sir."

"Please call me Doctor Powell.  I have lots of experience with viruses.  I studied them all of my life."

        The Captain stepped up.
